Summit approves deal with CEDA for water assistance
By Carol McGowan
Help may be on the way for some Summit residents that have trouble paying their water bills.
The Summit Village Board recently approved an ordinance authorizing an agreement by, and between the Community and Economic Development Association of Cook County.
It’s a vendor agreement for the Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program.
The program is funded by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
Customers may receive a benefit of up to $1,500 total for reconnection assistance, disconnection prevention, to pay a past due balance, or disconnection and late fees.
There are income and other guidelines that need to be met.
For more information on the program, visit CEDAorg.net/sites, or call 1-800-2332.
The CEDA office in Summit is a CEDA WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) location. For LIHWAP information, you’re encouraged to use the website, or call the phone number.
