Shot in the head, killed on Archer

A 33-year-old man was shot in the head and killed as he drove a vehicle in the 4200 block of South Archer at 5:13 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:47 a.m. Police said he shooter fired from an SUV that pulled alongside the victim’s vehicle. As of Monday, authorities had not yet released the victim’s identity, pending notification of relatives. No one is in custody.

Shot as he drives down 65^th Street

A 55-year-old man was shot multiple times in the body as he drove west in the 2200 block of West 65^th Street at about 1:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21. The victim drove himself to Holy Cross Hospital and was later transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition. Police said the shooter was on foot and fired from the street. No one is in custody.

Shot in the back on 35^th Street

A 37-year-old man was shot as he drove his vehicle in the 1800 block of West 35^th Street at 3:55 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21. He suffered a graze wound and refused treatment, police said. The shooter reportedly fired from a dark-colored sedan. No one is in custody.

Traffic stop leads to gun, drug charges

Drane

A 37-year-old Palos Hills man was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after he was arrested outside in the 2500 block of West 66^th Street at 9:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27.

Larry Drane, of the 10000 block of South Hill Terrace, was apprehended by officers who noticed his vehicle was double parked, a CPD spokesman said.

Officers said they smelled burnt cannabis and then searched the vehicle, reportedly finding a loaded handgun under the driver’s seat. Drane also was charged with transporting cannabis in an open container.

Charged with punching woman on Christmas Eve

Gomez

A 33-year-old Back of the Yards man was charged with domestic battery after he was arrested at his home in the 4800 block of South Marshfield at 8:02 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24.

Miguel Gomez allegedly punched a 30-year-old woman in the head during an argument.

According to public records, Gomez has been arrested four times by CPD since 2014 on such charges as driving on a suspended license and criminal damage to property.

Charge man with DUI on 63^rd Street

Gutierrez-Custodio

            A 21-year-old Chicago Lawn man was charged with DUI, as well as illegally transporting open alcohol in a vehicle, after he was arrested in the 4500 block of West 63^rd Street at 1:24 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 1.

Jonathan Gutierrez-Custodio, of the 6100 block of South Richmond, was stopped by police after they saw him throw a container of alcohol out his vehicle’s window as he drove east on 63^rd Street, a CPD spokesman said. He also was cited for driving an uninsured vehicle.

According to public records, Gutierrez-Custodio was arrested in October 2018 at 63^rd and Whipple and charged with reckless driving, speeding 15-20 mph over the limit, and running several stop signs.

Wojotek

            A 36-year-old Garfield Ridge man was charged with domestic battery after he was arrested at his home in the 5500 block of West 55^th Street at 9:09 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29.

Celej Wolotek allegedly pushed a 57-year-old man to the floor during an argument.

Charged with breaking home’s window

Zavala

A 21-year-old Brighton Park man was charged with criminal damage to property after he was arrested at 84^th and Keating at 7 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 1.

John Zavala, of the 4100 block of South Albany, allegedly threw a stone at the front window of a home, breaking the glass pane.

According to public records, Zavala was arrested by CPD in October 2018 near 30^th and Komensky and charged with obstructing traffic.

Carlos

A 28-year-old West Elsdon man was charged with domestic battery after he was arrested at his home in the 3900 block of West 55^th Place at 5:38 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 1.

Jose Carlos allegedly struck a woman during an argument.

Charged again with domestic battery

Saucedo

A 32-year-old Scottsdale man was charged with violating an order of protection and domestic battery after he was arrested in the 6400 block of South Springfield at 2:20 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31.

Candelario Saucedo, of the 7800 block of South Knox, allegedly pulled the hair of and punched a 27-year-old woman during an argument.

According to public records, Saucedo has been arrested by five times by CPD since 2015 on such charges as criminal damage to property, robbery and domestic battery (three times).

 Foot chase ends in gun charge

Powell

A 23-year-old Chicago Lawn man was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest after he was arrested near his home in the 6100 block of South Whipple at 10:12 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2.

Javon Demond Powell allegedly was a passenger in a vehicle blocking an alley, a CPD spokesman said. When officers approached the vehicle, Powell allegedly bolted and fled on foot. He was apprehended after a brief foot chase. Officers said they found a handgun on Powell.

Martinez

A 47-year-old Bridgeport man was charged with aggravated DUI, illegally transporting open alcohol in a vehicle, failure to report an accident and driving on a revoked license after he was arrested in the 5600 block of South Western at 12:54 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26.

Jesus Martinez, of the 1200 block of West 31^st Street, allegedly drove a vehicle that crashed into a vehicle parked in a gas station near 56^th and Western, as its owner pumped gas.

Say woman had gun, drugs in vehicle

Garcia

A 19-year-old Chicago Lawn woman was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a controlled substance after she was arrested during a traffic stop in the 5800 block of South Western at 9:45 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26.

Mariana Garcia, of the 6100 block of South Francisco, reportedly had a loaded handgun in the trunk of her car, as well as a small amount of drugs, a CPD spokesman said.

Hernandez

A 20-year-old Chicago Lawn man was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after he was arrested outside in the 3100 block of West 59^th Street at 7:40 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27.

Israel Hernandez, of the 6000 block of South Albany, was found to have a loaded gun on him, a CPD spokesman said without elaborating.
